About the lessons I offer

Putting on a kimono is a skill that has to be properly learned. It is like learning an new instrument or a new language: you have to practice to get better and sometimes a little help to make progress. As a certified kimono teacher I will provide you the guidance, knowledge and skills you need.

A professional training in kimono dressing (着付け, kitsuke) will not only teach you how to read the fabric, work with ties and how to get an eye for proportions, it will also help you to build up confidence, body awareness and grace.

It doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or if you want to brush-up your kimono dressing skills, everyone is welcome! I’m teaching on every skill level of kitsuke.

A few things to keep in mind…

  1. For your first class please always book a “Beginner Kitsuke Only Kimono” class. This will make sure that I can introduce into my kitsuke techniques.

  2. You will be upgraded to new levels or new classes, whenever I see it is the right time for you.

  3. Please be patient with yourself and others. It will assure a comfortable learning environment.

  4. If you have questions about your first class, kimono in general, or if you want to talk about padding, please book a counseling session.
